HBN WRAPPED

The first 6 months of 2025 has seen professional boxing in the Humber Region explode! From pro debuts to shock results and who can forget the return of professional boxing to the city of Hull for the first time in 2 years, it has been an impressive year so far. Here is a low down of all the action.

March

After a quiet start to the year, March saw things erupt. On the 7th, Codie Smith (6-0-1) set the tone with a thunderous performance, knocking his opponent down twice in round three to secure a dominant win. The same month saw Levi Giles (16-2-1) in action, who stayed sharp ahead of his August Midlands Area Title bout, winning via decision on the 22nd. That Saturday night also saw upcoming Hull prospect Ted Jackson (3-0-0) overcome Nicolas Andres Falabella (1-9-3). However, it was Logan Richardson (6-1) who truly stole the show. On the 30th, he pulled off a massive upset, stopping the previously undefeated Lewis Roberts (11-1) with a devastating KO to claim the English Bantamweight Title!

May

The month of May began with a bang as Adrian King (5-0) headed over to Germany and delivered a second-round KO over Marcel Bode (5-3), a win which set the stage perfectly for what came next. THE HOMECOMING SHOW on May 10th was nothing short of spectacular. A five-fight spectacle co-promoted by the seasoned promoter Dennis Hobson, alongside Hull’s own Harry Booth and Steve Ashton, brought elite-level boxing back to Hull. Dylan ‘Tricky Trevva’ Trevor (2-0) opened the show with flair, outclassing ‘Sugar’ Shane Smith (2-15-1) in a dominant four-round decision, backed by a sea of orange-shirted fans from Sheffield. At Super Bantamweight, Paul Roberts (7-6-2) edged out Stephen Jackson (1-61-1) over four close rounds, taking the decision in a well-matched contest. Hometown fighter Liam Macmillan (2-1-0) had his clash with Jake Osgood (2-68) tragically cut short due to a freak injury, handing Osgood the TKO win in the first round. Then came Charan Dhesi (1-0), making her professional debut and becoming the first female Sikh professional boxer in the UK. Fighting in her hometown of Hull, Dhesi overwhelmed her opponent, Amy Greatorex (1-12), earning a fourth-round stoppage in front of a roaring crowd. Her vibrant post-fight celebration paid homage to her cultural roots and set the tone for what promises to be a trailblazing career. The main event was a moment Hull has long awaited. Welterweight sensation Harvey Lambert (5-0) returned home for the first time in his pro career, taking on rugged Czech fighter Petr Brodsky (4-6) . In a masterclass performance, Lambert dropped Brodsky twice in the fifth and cruised to a unanimous decision, improving to 5-0 and thrilling the hometown crowd.

The night was made possible thanks to FightZone, Fight Academy, Humber Boxing Network, Soft Micks, as well as our event sponsors made up of local businesses and of course main sponsors Calum Scott and White & Clayton Recruitment.

Just when it seemed the month couldn’t get any better, Lewis “The Thrill from Gipsyville” Sylvester (16-1) delivered in dramatic fashion. On May 23rd, he captured the IBO Continental Lightweight Title, outpointing the experienced Reece Mould (20-4) via split decision in a closely contested war on GBM’s promotions first ever stadium show. The next 12 months are going to be massive for Lewis and we are excited to see what’s next.

June

June continued the action with Codie Smith picking up another solid decision win, strengthening his unbeaten record. Meanwhile, English champ Logan Richardson returned quickly as he took on Joshua John (12-2) in a British Bantamweight eliminator. In a razor-close bout, Richardson came up just short on the cards—an unfortunate loss, but a performance that showed he belongs at the top level. This is only the start of Logan’s big fight spell and it’s going to be a journey every fight fan should take interest in.

From thrilling knockouts to title wins and home shows, the first half of the year has been electric for boxing in the Humber region. Humber Boxing Network is very excited to see what the next six months will bring!
